Hotel association expands presence in CBD office

Hudson House, developed in 1965.

The Australian Hotels Association’s New South Wales branch has bought another level of Sydney’s Hudson House.

The fourth floor of the strata office at 131 Macquarie Street is setting the buyer back $10.7 million.

For years occupied by law firm Speed & Stracey, the 524 square metre space was offered with vacant possession.

The AHA NSW has held two more strata floors in the building for 15 years, according to CBRE marketing agents, Angus Wildred, Callum Cooke and Harry George.

AHA NSW becomes largest entitlement holder

Built in 1965, with Sydney Harbour and Royal Botanic Garden views, the 17 level Hudson House has over the years accommodated family offices for Reg Grundy and Gretel Packer (story continues below).

The Fairfax and Vicars families are existing occupiers, alongside Sam Arnaout’s Iris Capital.

The AHA NSW is now 131 Macquarie Street’s biggest unit entitlement holder.

The deal comes a month since we reported another association, the RACQ, sold a Brisbane CBD office with a part leaseback.

In Melbourne meanwhile, earlier this year, the Real Estate Institute of Victoria acquired an Abbotsford headquarters to replace a Camberwell base sold last year.
