Engineers Australia, Flybuys choose replacement HQs

GPT has secured Engineers Australia and Flybuys to 181 William Street.

Two high profile brands will move Melbourne CBD headquarters to 181 William Street, part of the two-tower CBW complex (pictured, top), held by GPT.

The William Street tower contains 54,000 square metres over 26 floors.

In the biggest deal, Engineers Australia has committed to 1975 square metres, being the 26th ‘penthouse’ floor.

Flybuys will downsize from the Mail Exchange building, occupied since 2019.

Formerly known as the Institute of Engineers, Australia, the not for profit government body will move from 600 Bourke St, owned by AMP Capital, managed by Mirvac.

It will join Flybuys which has leased 1041 sqm on level nine.

The Coles and Wesfarmers owned customer rewards brand will downsize from a 1789 sqm tenancy in the historic Mail Exchange building – presently with naming rights to private college, Whitehouse – to which it committed in late 2018.

The Premium grade tower contains 54,000 sqm.

It forms part of CBW – an acronym for Corner of Bourke and William.

The other office, 550 Bourke St, rises 19 levels, with 25,600 sqm.

The asset also includes the Goldsborough Place cafe precinct.

CBW cost $608m in late 2014.

It is held equally by GPT and its Wholesale Office Fund.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Ben Ward, Nick Sharkey and Amy Jone are the leasing agents.
