Ex-Bunnings HQ sells after renovation

The Hawthorn East office occupies 2269 square metres.

Electrical engineering products supplier NHP is buying the ex-Bunnings headquarters, in Hawthorn East, it is understood to occupy.

Development of NHP’s Richmond headquarters could block city skyline views for Hawthorn residents.

The five level, 5295 square metre office at 16-18 Cato Street is believed to be selling for just over $25 million.

Vendor, Terraplex, outlaid $24.7m in 2016.

Another c$5.2m was invested on a renovation after Bunnings relocated to Burnley two years ago.

The site spreads 2269 sqm also with Hall St access (story continues below).

Bunnings relocated to a Burnley office owned by Growthpoint.

JLL’s Tim Carr, Josh Rutman, Mark Stafford and MingXuan Li with Dawkins Occhiuto’s Andrew Dawkins and Walter Occhiuto were the agents.

NHP was created in 1968 by Nigel Peck who died seven years ago, aged 89.

With the Hawthorn East deal, agent focus may turn to the company’s existing headquarters – covering nearly a hectare on the banks of the Yarra River in River St, Richmond – a logical, longer-term, apartment development site with the potential to rob city skyline views from Hawthorn residents.
