Ex-PwC CEO lists historic Melbourne mansion

The Sayers paid $4.84 million for Strathnaver in 2005.

Former PwC chief executive officer turned Carlton Football Club president Luke Sayers, and his wife, Cate, have listed their family home after 19 years.

Ellerslie, on 3340 square metres, sold for $19.5 million in late 2022.

The c1886 Strathnaver, covering 2022 square metres on Grandview Grove, between Rathmines and Victoria roads, Hawthorn East, carries $15.5-$16.5 million price hopes.

The pair paid $4.84m.

Identified with a third floor turret capturing 360 degree views, the Boom style Victorian with a grand entrance, three reception rooms, six bedrooms, an office, basement cellar and two storey pool house, had just been renovated.

A downsize is planned.

Marshall White is the marketing agency.

Mr Sayers was PwC CEO from 2012-2020 including during the company’s high profile tax scandal, disclosed in 2022 (story continues below).

Strathnaver contains up to seven bedrooms and a tower with 360 degree views.

Another major Hawthorn East listing

The Sayers listing comes two years since Chemist Warehouse scion Marcello Verrocchi and his wife, Joanne, bought Hawthorn East’s spectacularly renovated c1891 John Beswick designed Ellerslie from the family of late racing identity Garry Dumbrell.

Worth $19.5m, that deal priced the land at $5838 per sqm.

In 2021 meanwhile, entertainer Kylie Minogue bought a renovated historic home in the pocket – pricing each sqm of the block at c$5500.

Strathnaver is about seven kilometres east of Melbourne’s CBD.
