Family home of late VFL legend for sale

The Toorak apartment was recently renovated.

A Toorak apartment purchased in the 1970s by late Collingwood footballer Lou Richards and his wife, Edna, as a family home, has been listed for sale after a renovation.

The Piccadilly complex at 417 Toorak Road.

On the second floor of the Piccadilly complex at 417 Toorak Road, less than 200 metres from Toorak Village, the two bedroom unit carries $940,000-$1.02 million price hopes.

The pair’s daughter, Nicole Morrison, recently completed a renovation; oversized, it contains an entrance hall, open plan living and dining space and large study which could dub as a third bedroom.

There are also two bathrooms and a car park.

Jellis Craig’s Michael Armstrong and Adam Walker, the agents, are closing an expressions of interest campaign for 21/417 Toorak Road next month (story continues below).

Another Richards sale

Mr Richards, who died in 2017, nine years after Edna, raised his family in the Toorak unit, then, after retirement, split time between it and a Portsea home.

The ex-footballer also owned the former Phoenix bar at 82 Flinders Street – now a ‘superthin’ tower with some 28 apartments. Mostly full floor, recent units there have sold for well over $1m.
