Hardware boss reoffers dramatic riverside Melbourne mansion

Sarah Laidlaw, the wife of ex-Mitre 10 chief executive officer, Mark, has listed a dramatic multi-level mansion abutting the Yarra River, in Toorak.

Sarah Laidlaw last listed 1 Edzell Avenue in 2016 with c$20 million hopes.

The 1920s four bedroom dwelling, fully remodeled by SJB Architects, carries $50-$55 million price hopes.

It was temporarily offered in 2016 – just before a year long local residential boom – with a $20m guide.

The couple outlaid $6.1m in 2013 then renovated and extended.

It is the second trophy Toorak mansion to hit the market this month carrying $50m-plus price hopes.

The other, a four year old, 2000 square metre Neo-classic surrounded by a pool and tennis court on Irving Rd, is being offered by aged care executive Peter Arvanitis and his wife, Areti.

The priciest Victorian home for public sale is again in Toorak – Cranlana on Clendon Rd was offered last month by the Myer family with c$95m-plus expectations (story continues below).

Establishing his executive career with Metcash, Mr Laidlaw led Mitre 10 for a decade from 2010. Between 2020-2023 he was chairman with Total Tools.

Seven years ago the Laidlaws unsuccessfully offered for sale Binnum, a Guildford Bell designed dwelling in Portsea, with c$8m price hopes.
