Palms Motel Footscray Sells For $3.2 Million

DHS had agreed to pay $312,000 per annum in rent to occupy the 36-room complex, but the deal scuttled just before auction.

Kliger Wood agents Lou Montalti and Nick Breheny marketed the Footscray site, which was once also earmarked to become a posh restaurant.

Elsewhere in Footscray, the former Barkly Hotel has recently been developed into a major public housing block.

In nearby Maribyrnong, at least 20 per cent of the 3000 dwellings earmarked for 128 hectares of Department of Defence land, on the banks of the Maribyrnong River, will be allocated toward social housing.
