Rodd & Gunn expands in Sydney, Melbourne

Rodd & Gunn leased an ex-Kookai store at 82 Church Street, Brighton, last November.

Rodd & Gunn has opened a Sydney flagship at the sandstone 14 Martin Place, originally known as the Colonial Life Building.

Rodd & Gunn will join Rebel at Melbourne’s Emporium.

The retailer leased 150 square metres – shop 2, on the ground floor of the c1892 building at the corner of Pitt St – from Abacus and Kirsh Group, owners for 14 years.

It is the second Australian CBD store the New Zealand based fashion house has recently committed to:;it will also open at Melbourne’s Emporium in November.

That deal, announced earlier this month, part of a major mall repositioning by Vicinity, will see it join new retailers Hommy Hommy, Ksubi, Gann, Onitsuka Tiger, On Running, Jo Mercer and Replay.

Rebel Sport is also set to open it biggest tenancy there – 3600 sqm – over two floors.

Rodd & Gunn’s hospitality arm will also open another The Lodge Bar this year, but in the Victorian capital.

Chief executive officer, Mike Beagley, said Martin Pl is the ultimate destination for luxury and fashion.

“We’re delighted to announce the launch of our Sydney flagship at such an iconic shopping destination,” he added.

Globally, the company has some 200 outlets and first lodges including concessions in major European malls – Italy’s Coin, Belgium’s Inno, Canada’s Hudson Bay, UK’s John Lewis and Bloomingdale’s, in the United States.

It also operates in France.
