State government, bank sign Essendon Fields leases

Also today, we are reporting Dutton leased a major Essendon Fields warehouse.

Two more high profile tenants have leased Essendon Fields offices.

The ex-Essendon Airport Terminal building, now a 2000 square metre office.

In the biggest deal, Ambulance Victoria has committed to 1007 square metres, being the southern end of the high-profile c1959 Terminal building – nowadays known as the Bell Business Centre (pictured, top).

The Department of Health and Human Services arm, which has already moved in, will be the anchor; the asset, 72 Hargrave Avenue, contains 2000 sqm.

The space is occupied as the Essendon Fields Operations Centre, servicing Adult Retrieval Victoria and Victoria Stroke Telemedicine.

“Ambulance Victoria already operates its Air Ambulance aviation division from a state-of-the-art hangar at 12 Global Ave, Essendon Fields, and the emergency services leader thought it made operational sense to co-locate other facilities also to Essendon Fields,” the occupier’s Adult Retrieval Operations Manager, Michael Wells, said.

“The proximity to Air Ambulance and the preference for co-location were the main drivers for the move but the opportunity to relocate into the Terminal building has provided much needed space and the proximity required,” he added.

“The space has already allowed for more staff from across Ambulance Victoria to be present and it’s envisaged that further expansion is possible at this exciting location further supporting our operational capacity,” according to the executive (story continues below).

One Five Vaughan Street was one of Essendon Fields’ earliest offices.

Westpac to shift business centre

The Good Guys occupied 15 Vaughan Street before merging with JB Hi Fi in 2016.

Meanwhile, Westpac has signed up for 711 sqm on the ground floor at 15 Vaughan Street – for a business centre.

With the deal, the bank will close a facility of this type at Tullamarine.

The landlord, also known as Essendon Fields, backed by billionaire Lindsay Fox and Max Beck via a leasehold, recently revamped the three level building including with a new lobby. The asset was also rebranded One Five Vaughan St.

CBRE’s Gianni Macdonald and Anthony Park with JLL’s Shane Keogh and Matt Szakiel, the agents, have 213 sqm left to fill.
