Taiwanese group secures site for battery storage system

Tapei based HD Renewable Energy has settled on an inner west Melbourne site on which it plans a major battery storage facility.

The 7452 square metre parcel, 34-40 Cawley Road, Yarraville, abutting the West Gate Freeway, opposite the Brooklyn Terminal Station, cost $9.2 million.

Vacant, it traded off-market mid-year.

CBRE’s Andrew Bell, Matt Romanin and Charles Betts were the agents.

A statement from the Taiwan listed HDRE said the Cawley Rd property was bought against a $9.7m valuation.

A 70MW battery energy storage system is planned (story continues below).

In the meantime, the group is offering the property for lease seeking $300,000 per annum; it contains 2379 sqm of office and warehouse space accessed from 11 motorised roller doors.

The site, accessed from two crossovers, also has c3500 sqm of hardstand.

Mr Romanin and Mr Betts are again the agents, with Fergus Pragnell and Cameron Giles.

Yarraville is about seven kilometres from town.
